Questions

How long does it take to get an ITIN?
About 7 weeks according to the IRS, or 9 to 11 weeks if your application arrives between January 15 and April 30 or you apply from outside the US.
Can I check my ITIN status online?
No. There's no online tracker. After the quoted time has passed, call the IRS to ask about it.
Does applying through a CAA make it faster?
The IRS processing time is the same, but a Certifying Acceptance Agent can verify your documents so you don't mail originals, and catch errors that cause delays.
