- How do I get my Equifax credit score?Your Equifax credit score is free with a myEquifax account. Sign up, then choose "Get my free credit score" to join Equifax Core Credit, which shows a daily VantageScore 3.0 based on Equifax data. The sign-up form takes an SSN or ITIN. A credit report, such as the free one from AnnualCreditReport.com, doesn't include a score.
- Does a checking account build credit?A checking account doesn't build credit. Experian, Equifax and TransUnion typically leave checking accounts out of credit reports, and debit card spending isn't borrowing. A checking account can still hurt your credit, though. An unpaid negative balance sent to a debt collector may show up as a collection on your credit report.
